Canvassing for Opinion - aka "Blairs Brain on Cannabis"

IMHO prohibition sentiment requires inherent addiction to status quo, an incapacity to visualise beyond the here and now and a desperate desire to know others might feel the same... Reform is not revolutionary, rather it is evolutionary. Having survived banging your head against a brick wall the evolutionist relishes having stopped. / Blair

Belle Bene Facere. Wage War Well.

Worthy efforts are misplaced in "War against P" [Manawatu Standard, 16Oct]. Its logical failing; its a war that can never be won, only waged. Like the terrorism/drug metaphor, it is the abandonment of reason to hope that leads people to think that illicit markets can be contrained by force. No act of parliament can change or improve the molecules of misuse and abuse and the derogatory labeling and exclusionary terminology makes me wonder why we bother running mental health public awareness campaigns. Where did 'first do no harm' go? One cannot coerce good health. Where is the informed consent?.

And whose whanau are these folk refering too? Someone elses everytime. The delusion is complete, it's them; those people, where in reality, they are us. This same 'othering' was evident in debate prior to 1930's alcohol prohibition but reason prevailed, they didnt arrest and criminalise the consumer. We fixed the problem by embracing the seller and using 'legal regulation'. That's how to wage war well. Belle Bene Facere.
