Canvassing for Opinion - aka "Blairs Brain on Cannabis"

IMHO prohibition sentiment requires inherent addiction to status quo, an incapacity to visualise beyond the here and now and a desperate desire to know others might feel the same... Reform is not revolutionary, rather it is evolutionary. Having survived banging your head against a brick wall the evolutionist relishes having stopped. / Blair

What if the puritans had just stayed at home?

I have a few moments ago, finished watching the  DVD of  "Kinsey, Lets Talk about Sex"...

The parallel to drug policy and the need for unfettered emperical research along with our societal reluctance to accept diversity would be comedic if it wasnt so damn serious. The movie [coproduced by Francis Ford Coppola] is a sensitive exploration of these vexing issues wrapped around the life story of one of history's exemplar social ecologists.

The following two quotes from the movie are gems.

"Everybody's sin is nobody's sin, and everybody's crime is no crime at all."

"All people are different. The problem is most people want to be the same. They find it easier to simply ignore this fundamental aspect of the condition. They are so eager to be part of the group that they will betray their own nature to get there. If something pleasurable and strongly desired is prohibited it becomes an obsession. Think about this." /  KINSEY  ( 1894-1956)
I too wonder, what if the puritans had just stayed at home?
