Canvassing for Opinion - aka "Blairs Brain on Cannabis"

IMHO prohibition sentiment requires inherent addiction to status quo, an incapacity to visualise beyond the here and now and a desperate desire to know others might feel the same... Reform is not revolutionary, rather it is evolutionary. Having survived banging your head against a brick wall the evolutionist relishes having stopped. / Blair

Stroke, Pot and an uncritical Media.

"We haven't been able to tease apart the relationship between cannabis and stroke independent of smoking, because all the cannabis smokers but one who had stroke had smoked cigarettes," Barber said. "So we can say cannabis smoking including tobacco smoking is associated with a higher risk of ischemic stroke."

Despite cannabis's widespread use its association with stroke is infrequent. The cause and effect association between use and stroke is neither firmly established nor is the mechanism by which that may occur at all clear, even in those cases where clinical assay on survivors or post mortem investigation might provide a hypothesis as to the pathophysiologic mechanism. We do have clear and unambiguous data that shows neuroprotective, neuroregenerative and other clinical benefits from cannabinoids. Irrefutably however, the best methodology of ingestion (mode of use) is via inhalation. Again vapourisation, a preferential mechanism is by all accounts illegal as is the equipment to enable it. Yet this is harm reduction/minimisation. Such 'policing' practice along with the moral indignation that any adult engagement in such epidemiological research might send a message to kids pot is OK represents a heinous miscarriage of justice. Those who choose not to understand this - who defer to poor research standards (this study was a world first - doh!) in order to uphold their commitment to a moral paradigm I regard quite simply as "R"soles.
