Canvassing for Opinion - aka "Blairs Brain on Cannabis"

IMHO prohibition sentiment requires inherent addiction to status quo, an incapacity to visualise beyond the here and now and a desperate desire to know others might feel the same... Reform is not revolutionary, rather it is evolutionary. Having survived banging your head against a brick wall the evolutionist relishes having stopped. / Blair

Merchandising Failure to Look Like Success

The pretence of 'control' manifested in fear mongering reality prime time TV shows the likes of Border Control, Drug Bust, Police 10-7, and most recently the first showing of 'NZ Detective' (TVOne) represents the very worst in "Manufactured Consent".

It merchandises failure as success. The later production is unlikely to ever report that Harry Quinn, former head of NZ Police 'National Drug Intelligence' called for cannabis decriminalisation... but we are expected to believe that these "low life's" are able to somehow be master minds of sophisticated grow's, massive commercial deception and incredible criminal subterfuge....

How utterly despicable that they used the death on duty of undercover cop [Wilkinson] to advance policing 'drugs' as an honourable profession when the circumstances turned to custard under prohibitions watch and no drugs were involved.

Perhaps if these [largely potaganda] TV executives and producers were to balance their reporting with some real insight (see this public health perspective on drug policy ) the public perception of Police would improve.
A Simple Truth About Drugs That Punctures Decades of Drug War Lies
Drugs are not that dangerous.   If we want to fight addiction, there are better ways than demonising controlled substances.

Watch Dr. Sanjay Gupta's documentary "Weed" this Sunday at 8pm ET on CNN!
;

Dear Blair,
Ahead of a widely publicized CNN documentary on medical marijuana this Sunday at 8pm ET, Dr. Sanjay Gupta has spoken out on the news magazine circuit to humbly apologize for misleading the American public on the issue. Calling the federal government's policy on medical marijuana "hypocritical," Dr. Gupta interviews physicians and medical marijuana patients, and even travels to Israel in order to let the public know about this important therapy.
Directly after the CNN documentary on medical marijuana -- at 9:30pm ET on Sunday -- ASA will host a Google Hangout to continue the discussion begun by CNN and Dr. Gupta. The Google Hangout will feature some of the same guests in the documentary as well as additional experts in the medical cannabis field. The media and general public are invited and encouraged to join the discussion and can submit questions or comments on the ASA YouTube Channel in real time.
What: Google Hangout on medical marijuana, discussing issues raised in Sanjay Gupta's documentary and more
Featuring: Dr. Alan Shackelford, Matt and Paige Figi (from the CNN documentary), as well as Dr. Sunil Aggarwal and Huffington Post DC Bureau Chief Ryan Grim
When: Sunday, August 11th at 9:30pm ET
Where: ASA YouTube Channel
Thank you for your support in getting the word out!
Sincerely,
Hunter Holliman
National Field Coordinator
